Bridging the gap between Industrial Design & Manufacturing

David Wolfe Design offers plastic product design and development services that help to bridge the gap between Industrial Design and Manufacturing.  Our customers come to us with ideas for their products in many different formats.  Some only have a napkin sketch; some have conceptual drawings, and still others have gone to the extent to use Industrial Designers to come up with the styling they desire as well as the market research behind their product.

To properly take their ideas to manufacturing, the customer needs accurate CAD models, drawings, and a functional design.  It is at this point that the years of tooling experience, state of the art design software, and our talented design department become a valuable asset.  Many times products are designed for aesthetics without regard to the best manufacturing option.  We will take the initial design concepts or sketches and model them accurately into a design that not only will look good but will be functional and be cost effective to manufacture.

Wilson Electronics, Inc. - St. George, Utah

Wilson Electronics Inc. manufactures a variety of cellular phone signal amplification products.  They needed a stylish new housing for one of their mobile amplifier units and came to us with a 2-dimensional layout of a unit that would be able to house the necessary electronic components. The images below follow the progression of the design from concept to finished product.

Once Wilson selected a style, we moved into full CAD design, determining proper wall thickness, mounting bosses, air vent locations, etc., all while maintaining the design intent and monitoring manufacturability.
